RARE HUMMINGBIRD SIGHTED AT MONARCH SPUR RV PARK

A rare Magnificent Hummingbird was sighted at Monarch Spur RV Park on July 8, 2008. The bird was a single juvenile female that visited a feeder in the park for several days before it was photographed and a positive identification could be made. The Colorado Bird Records Committee is the keeper of records for rare bird sightings in the state and report that this is only one of 23 records in the last 25 years for this species. The Magnificent Hummingbird is primarily a native of Mexico and ranges into southern Arizona.
